First, you are asked to think of a two digit number. Then you are asked to add the two digits and subtract it from the original number.

The trick here is that if you add up the two digits of a two digit number and subtract it from the original number, the result would be in multiples of 9. So the available options are 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81.

If you look at the symbol table then you would see that the symbols for the above numbers would be same.

The secret here is to put the same symbol for all the above numbers, so that irrespective of the number of times you try, you would end up with the right symbol for the number you thought upon. The same principle is used even in case of the flash mind reader
